1884 - First Kjeldahl unit - developed by Gerhardt
1910 - Re-named "C. Gerhardt, Fabrik und Lager chem. Apparate"
1939 - Business suspended due to 2nd World War. Amazingly, the buildings in Bonn remain intact.
1945 - In May, work starts again. Much of the old stock is made available to hospitals.
1960 - Dr. Wolfgang Macke - son of the expressionist painter, August Macke - takes over.
1975 - Dr. Til Macke takes over the management and successfully guides the company into the 21st century.
1976 - The trading business is sold to concentrate on equipment construction. Construction of the first VAPODEST, the rapid steam distillation equipment series, which is still successfully sold today.
1987 - Gerhardt UK founded as direct subsidiaries.
1993 - Gerhardt France founded as direct subsidiaries.
1998 – Jan Macke takes over the management of the company
2001 – Tom Macke joins the company as a further managing director
2003 - Company moves from the old premises in Bonn to the Oberdollendorf district of Königswinter.
2009 - Jan and Tom Macke take over the company from their father, Dr. Til Macke
2010 -Completion of the world´s first fully automatic hydrolysis system HYDROTHERM
2011 - Foundation of several international CG subsidiaries in Asia
2015 - Release of the new and world´s best steam distillation systems VAPODEST
2018 - Start of the large extension building in Königswinter with planned completion in 2020
2020 - Finalisation of the modern building extension
2021 - Gerhardt turns 175 years old. Implementation of an innovation-oriented video studio
2023 - Establishment and opening of the subsidiary CG Polska
